I have a few stories I need to write down before I forget them, since I'm not good about writing all these things in my journal!
On election day Mya was telling us her Kindergarten class also voted for President. Mya said she voted for Mitt Romney. When Scott asked, "Was it because of his values and leadership skills?" She quickly responded, "Yeah and he's handsome..." haha Then Mason had to chime in (he always has to make up stories about him being in school so he can be cool like Mya) "I voted today too in my class. Yep. Uh-huh..." I asked, "Oh yeah? Who did you vote for?" He shouts out, "President Monson!" He thought he was the smartest kid alive grinning from ear to ear. We all got a good laugh, and agreed he would make a good President. :)
While getting ready for church one day, Mason had on his blue pin-stripe pants/vest with matching tie and was looking sharp. After I helped him "make" his hair he says, "I look good Mom.... All the girls are gonna scream." haha
"What?" I said laughing, "Who taught you to say that?"
"I just did cause I is handsome, huh Mom."
"Yes, yes you are very handsome Mason."
"Yeah, I'm gonna kiss Emmie, she my girlfriend..."
"What? I didn't know you liked Emmie!"
"Yeah, she in nursery. She cute."
Oh boy I think I'm in for it when this kid turns 16!!! I had to warn the Bishop's wife that my son was after her daughter! :)
A few days ago Mya and Mason were suppose to be getting dressed and making their beds... They both come in screaming that there's a spider. I go in the room and find a tiny baby spider in the corner between the wall and ceiling. I reassured them it is tiny, will not hurt them, and I will kill it when it comes out of the corner. I tell them to get dressed and make their beds while I jump in the shower.... I take a quick shower and when I get out I find they have not gotten dressed nor made their beds, and of course it's because they are too scared of the spider. In their room I find 3 pairs of Scott's shoes and 2 pairs of Mason's that they have been throwing at the spider to get it to move. Again I tell them to quit freaking out, do their chores, and I will kill it when it moves! They both are still very nervous about making their beds as they won't take their eyes off the stupid baby spider. While in my bathroom getting ready I hear them saying:
"Come here spider.... Come down baby spider...."
Mya then coax, "It's okay spider, just come down. We won't hurt you..."
Mason then adds, "Come here so I can kill you!"
Quickly Mya says in a very annoyed voice, "My brother's just TEASING baby spider!" Then she whispers to Mason, "Don't say that! He won't come down if he thinks we'll kill him!" Ohhh I laughed so hard!
Since getting in the habit of daily family scripture study both Mya and Mason enjoy taking turns reading. Mya is actually really good and can read or sound out an entire verse; Mason is a little different :) He of course pretends he is reading just like Scott does- asking questions in between verses. Here's a good sampling of how Mason reads: "And it came to pass Laman and Lemuel were bad. And he spake unto them you are on Satan's team. Behold this is the gospel of the Savior. And it came to pass Lehi did go forth." Then he looks up and points the bookmark at us as he asks, "Who is Lehi?" I answer, "The Dad." "No," he responds as he nods his head and points. Scott answers, "The prophet." "Noooo..." Now Mya says, "The good guy!" "Yes!" he smiles as he reads on... "Behold he was on Jesus team..." Who said reading scriptures are boring? Not with Mason!!!
A few more funny stories to add since I originally posted this....
We were getting ready to leave Melissa's house and I asked the kids (Mya, Mason, Sage, and Brock) to go clean up the play room really good. They all ran right up and went to work (which was amazing in and of itself!). After they were done they came down and said it was super clean. That's when Mason yells out with excitement, "Yeah, it's spick and Spanish!" hahaha We now say spick and Spanish instead of "spick and span". Too funny
For FHE we were making new goals for 2014. We explained what goals are, why they are important, then set goals for each kids as well as family goals. The next day while Kenya was sitting in her highchair eating, Mya tells me, "Mom I have one more score for Kenya!" I looked at her confused, "What score? What are you talking about?" "You know," she says, "a score... I have another one to write down for Kenya to do." I started to giggle, "Do you mean a goal for Kenya?" "Yeah, a score, a goal, same thing." Scott and I got a good chuckle and had to explain that although a goal in soccer was the same thing as scoring, setting a goal was a different term. Love my Mya!
