My Mother~ Louise Durfey Day

My sweet, wonderful mom passed away November 21, 2010 two months to the day from her mother's passing, at the age of 58. I could never adquately write a complete tribute to all that she has done for me. All the sacrifices made, the selfless service given, example shown, unconditional love, advice shared, lessons taught, testimony born, sleepless nights spent, etc etc She fought the cancer so hard and for so long, and never complained- not once! She never questioned the Lord or asked "Why me?" She was valiant and brave, and endured to the end with a loving smile on her face. My heart aches for her and my mind still won't believe she's really gone. I occassionaly just want to pick up the phone to talk to her, or have dreams she is still here. Reality is not easy to face right now. I fear I'll forget her laugh or memories of her will fade. I'm sadden my kids won't remember her and that my future children won't be smothered by her kisses. My mother truly was one of a kind and I realize what an honor it has been that she was MY MOM! My mom had (Ahhh I hate speaking in past tense!) more facebook friends than I do. It's been so neat to read all the many tributes to my mother and how she has touched so many lives. My favorite was: Everyone should have a Louise Day in their life. It's so true and how blessed I am she will forever my mom! I'm so grateful for the knowledge of the gospel and that families are eternal. My testimony and family are such a strength to me right now- both of which my mother gave to me and for that I will forever be her in debt.

Mom~ never go too far, please stay near by. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me as I try to emulate the life you lived. I love you more than you know, forever and always!
Your Eternal Daughter,
ShaRee Louise (a name I am proud to bear!)

Halloween with a little bit of Christmas

This year for Halloween Mya kept telling everyone she was going to be a horse with wings. I have no idea where she got the idea from, but I kept trying to talk her out of it since she was a horse last year and I'd have no idea where to find a horse with wings! The Tuesday before Halloween we decided to checkout Target and low and behold they had a horse with wings- and it was the very last one! Mya's dream came true! :) Mason was a turtle, he wasn't as excited about his costume like Mya was. Maybe if I made it into a cool ninja turtle like Haws he would have been happier haha

Posing with Grandma who even dressed up in her Hawaiian gear. Notice Mya had already started into the candy!
My crazy family all dressed up... too funny!
They both fell asleep on our way to go trick or treating
Due to my Mom's failing health, we decided to have Christmas a little early this year. You know, kind of like the Blink 182 song "We'll have Halloween on Christmas..." but the opposite! :) Here is Mom bearing her testimony to us.
Mom has always wanted to give each of the granddaughters a Madame Alexander Doll for their 10th birthday. Knowing she wasn't going to make it that long, she gave all the girls' their dolls early but made us promise we would put it away for her tenth birthday. Mya got the "Happy Birthday" doll. Everyday she asks me if she is bigger, when I ask why she says, "So I can have my doll grandma gave me." I will put this picture with the doll so it will make her 10th bday all the more memorable.
For the boys' tenth bday she wanted to give each of them a real nice hunting knife. Mason threw a tantrum when we wouldn't open it- stinker. I doubt he'll remember Grandma Day when he's 10, but at least he can remember this picture when he's out hunting with the special knife.
For our present to Mom and Dad we all wrote letters to each of them and Jamie bound it in a cute book and titled it Letter of Love.
Not much of a family picture, but
may be our last with my mom.

On a closing note... If you knew your life was soon coming to an end, how would your prayers be to your Heavenly Father? Would they be more sincere, more heartfelt, more personal? It's just been one thought running through my head while watching Mom go through this battle. I don't think I could be as brave and valient as my mom has, but would like to hope she has taught me well enough that I could follow her example. My Mom is truly amazing in every way. I could never fully thank her or repay her for all she has done for me. I sure wish I could have twenty more years with her, but know she will always be there in my heart and will whisper the advice I would always go to her for... I love you Mom- "more than you know"!!!

Picture Overload

So here's some pictures I've missed over the past 3 months... They are a little out of order, but at least I've got them documented. I don't have time to be a perfectionist right now!

Scott and Melissa in the sprint Triathalon on Sept 11th

I video taped the whole thing, so I don't have any action pictures yet. Have to download the video first... They both did awesome. Scott freakin tore it up finishing 2nd in his division 25-29 yr old men and 5th overall! They swam 400 meters, biked 9 miles, then did a 5K. Scott's time was just over 1 hour. He finished his 5K in 19 minutes! Miss did great too but can't remember all her stats :)

Grandma Durfey's Funeral. What an awesome woman she was! We love you and miss you Grandma. Thank you for your love, example, and memories! (Again pics are all scrambled- thanks blogger)
