Expect A Miracle...

We gathered as a family last night to give my mom a blessing. Six of the eight kids were there (we missed you Nathan and Jordan!) along with my mom's siblings and their spouses, and of course grandma. Although it was not a joyous occasion to be gathered, it was a spiritual event. My uncle David shared a scripture he had been pondering on his way home from work (he is an institute teacher) from D&C 24:13, which says: Require not miracles, except I shall command you, except casting out devils, (and) healing the sick..." He said with and through our faith we can expect a miracle to occur to help our mom overcome this battle. It is ultimately the Lord's will but we can still ask and expect a miracle with our united faith. My uncle Dennis then gave my mom a wonderful blessing and I know that through the priesthood healing of the sick is possible!

We still don't know all the details of how bad the cancer is but I truly believe my mom can fight through this once again. She is a fighter! She feels fairly good- just cannot breathe very well. She still has her sense of humor and contagious smile. I know the Lord will help us through this! What extra news I do know is they removed 2 liters of fluid from her lungs yesterday and she will be doing more tests today. She should be released from the hospital this afternoon. The fluid should tell us if the cancer is the same type stemmed from her breast cancer, and an additional cat-scan (sp?) will show if it has spread anywhere else. So it is not officially lung cancer but rather cancer in her right lung. I will continue to post more details as they come. For any family that reads this, and any others who are interested, we will be having a special fast for her this Sunday. Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement. Please keep us in your prayers! We love you Mom!!!!

I have just found out my mom has lung cancer... She did not tell me how bad it is, but I expect the worse while I hope and pray for the best. She has been in remission for 3 years from breast cancer so I know she can fight this. Please keep my mom in your prayers!!! Thank you!

Food Storage!!!

My new ward had a RS class last week on food storage. I will admit, I probably wouldn't have gone if my mother-in-law hadn't been there to persuade me, but boy am I glad I went! They showed a DVD from an EXPERT canner (seriously this lady was insanely organized and prepared) named Sis DeWitt. She has written a 28 page book of ideas and information of how to better feed your family. Her meals she discussed were not the gross thoughts of desperate food storage you would typically think of when you rely on your year supply, like beans and rice and wheat. They were meals like taco soup, chicken alfredo, sweet and sour chicken, spaghetti, and even chocolate cake- YES moist chocolate cake!!! You really need to check out this website it will give you the download to get the DVD we watched AND her little book for FREE! I've never been so excited about food storage before! This lady bottles everything ranging from meat to chocolate chips! She tells you how to bottle bread and cakes! And really with a little organization and a few extra tools (a pressure cooker canner, solar oven, and a foodsaver) canning/food storage can become fairly easy! So check out the link and let me know if you have any questions. This lady is truly amazing and I'm grateful I went to the class so I can better feed my family during times of need or crisis!

Catching up...

I just wanted to catch up on some pictures that I've not been able to post since the move...

Here is Mya on her new "big bed" surrounded with all her stuffed animals (thanks to Daddy). When we moved we decided to put the crib in storage as well, and cross our fingers that she would sleep well in Scott's parents' double bed. I am so proud to report that Mya has done awesome with the transition! The first couple nights I had to lay by her until she fell asleep, but by the end of the week she would go to sleep on her own without even crying! Now after I tuck her in and say I love you, she repeats back "Lllluv Yuoooo! Bye-bye." It's so fetchin cute and I'm so proud of my little girl!

She really didn't like the hood much and would only wear it for a few seconds at a time, but I did manage to get a couple of cute pictures.

This is just a recent random picture of Mya and Sage on a horsey ride. Mya loves the horses, but she's not quite as attached as Sage! Sage has to be literally pulled off the saddle, kicking and screaming! We love to visit Miss and Mitch to see the horses!

Getting Your Input...

So I've been debating making our blog private for quite some time, so I thought I would ask my fellow bloggers of their opinion. I know it's probably initially a pain to get everyone emailed, but are there any other drawbacks? I have never received random comments from "stalkers" and I "track" who has visited through the Feedjit, but is that enough? Are there still sick pyschos stalking my family's life? :) Anyway, I just wanted to get some input from those of you that may have tried the private way to see what you thought. Thanks!

All is well... all is well...

The title for this post serves two meanings. The first being Scott's surgery went well. We were at the hosptial for 4 hours, but the actual knee scope only took 20 minutes. The repair to his miniscus muscle went great. Scott says it's a little tender, but he's already putting weight on it and walking (we didn't even buy crutches). The doc says he should be back to his sports within 2 weeks- which is a HUGE relief for not only Scott but me too so I won't have to see him depressed for much longer! Scott loves to be active and this has kind of made him a little on the ornery side being held back from sports. ;) Love you honey!

Now for the second topic... Still more opposition in CA about Prop 8. Even though the majority of Californians voted in favor of banning gay marriage, the gays and lesbians are taking it to the "Mormons". Why they've pin pointed our church out versus all the others I don't really understand (I also suppose they could be doing the same to other church's but I just don't see or hear about it.) But click here to see their recent protest at the Los Angeles Temple. This just makes me so sad. I wonder if it will ever calm down and fade out? Doubtful... I wonder how long other states will follow in pushing harder and harder for gay marriage. I am surprised we did not hear as much about the votes in Florida or Arizona- I suppose that's because neither state has a San Francisco... :) At any rate, I'm sure the opposition will continue and the fight to stand up and be proud as a Latter-Day Saint will forge on. Who knows how much worse it will get, but I just have to keep repeating the phrase "All is well, all is well." I was talking with my mother in-law Wednesday night about the whole issue and the "signs of the times" and she said that a seminary teacher once told her, that it won't necessarily be because of the wicked that the 2nd coming will happen, but perharps more so because of the righteous. When the righteous no longer waiver and do everything they are asked is when the Lord will return. There is just so much to think about lately with members of the Church no longer being "fence sitters" and really having to take a stand for righteousness' sake. But among the turmoil their is still so much to be thankful for, and for now that's what I'll try to focus on...

It's Official...

Well Scott has officially drawn out on the limited entry mountain lion tag in the Nebo region. He is so excited and realizes how lucky he was to draw out on his first entry! Needless to say I will become a hunter's widow here soon. Scott will be taking our dog, Tess, out every extra minute he has to help train her. A special thanks to Seth (and Rachelle :) for letting him go) for helping out with the extra dogs. Scott is so excited to get him a "cat"! :) A possible set back though... Scott is having knee surgery tomorrow, which we've been told should be minor but it's possible it could be worse than they think. If it goes as expected he'll be back walking in a day or two and playing sports in a couple weeks. However, if there is more damage done he could be on crutches for 4 weeks and out 6 months for sports. Wish us luck!!! :)
