We Thank Thee Oh God For a Prophet

What an amazing man and prophet! We were taken by surprise to hear of his death Sunday night while flipping through the channels. I was very sadden by the news but felt a great comfort of peace knowing he was now reunited with his sweet wife, and that the church will continue to move on. The organization of the church is a testimony in and of itself to me that this church is true! No politics or interviews or "voting" who will be our next prophet and leader, compared to the selecting of the new Pope. We love this gospel and we love President Hinckley!

I love this picture capturing how happy he was all the time- and I'm sure he's just holding that cane and not really using it. :) He will be missed!!!

So Sad...

I have some sad news... Our fish that we've had since our wedding day died this last week, all 4 of them plus 1 more we just bought 3 weeks ago. I never thought I'd be sad about a goldfish dying, but they were over 4 years old and had been so much apart of our marriage. Lame I know, but Mya was just starting to enjoy them too... I think it was the stupid tank that killed them, they all died within 3 days of each other. We just bought a bigger tank shortly before Christmas and I don't think it was pumping enough oxygen in there... So now we have this nice new tank that's sitting empty on our counter. It makes me sad to not see them swimming while I'm cooking dinner. I think I'm going to write a complaint letter to the tank company... jerks they killed my favorite wedding gift! Just give me another week and I will be over it- hopefully. :)

Christmas

So I am finally getting around to posting Christmas pictures! Mya definately made Christmas more exciting this year. She loved everything from the tree and lights to the wrapping paper and gifts! Below are pictures from the Curtis family party. Their tradition is to have the kids take turns dressing up as Santa and it was Cayden's turn this year (my 7 year old double nephew) . He looked like a dwarf in the huge Santa outfit. It was hilarious! And his mom, Melissa, made quite the little
helper too. It was a lot of fun.

Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve doing the Nativity with my family. Mya made quite the cute little angel!!!

And now Christmas Day! Mya got a lot of fun gifts but her favorites were the ride/walk lion and her baby doll, oh and of course the wrapping paper! It took her forever to unwrap each gift because she had to examine each piece of paper. She was so much fun. Scott and I had a nice Christmas as well. It just comes and goes all too fast!!!

Happy Birthday!

Here are some fun pictures of Mya's birthday party... because of the bad snow storm that night we missed Grandma and Grandpa Curtis and Shawna and her kids. We still made the most of it and had a good time. Scott was a good dad to let Mya take all the attention on the birthday they share.

I thought for sure Mya would dig right in to her birthday cake. After she stared at it forever I decided to help her put her hand in it. The minute her fingers were covered with icing she starting crying- she hated it! Who would have thought my little girl would be such a priss?!? Oh but do we love her!!!

Scott's game he chose to play with the kids was feather volleyball. It was hilarious to watch! Scott and Ren played against the boys and Mitch, trying to blow the yellow feather over the yarn.

I chose to play pin the tail on the donkey... My game wasn't quite the hit like feather volleyball, but at least Adyson played this game. Obviously these games were more for the nieces/nephews than Mya haha She just sat and watched it all. I think the kids had fun though.

This is the birthday party at Grandma and Grandpa Curtis'. We celebrated all three birthdays with Weston's being on the 15th. The cake was made special for Scotty- Baskin Robin's Pink Bubble Ice Cream Cake!

Mya loves her Daddy! I love this picture!

On the go!

Mya is crawling everywhere now! She loves to explore and get into everything she's not suppose to! Here's some cute pictures I took the other day while she was being wild. :)

The same night she got her first taste of Red Vine Licorice. She loved it! haha

6 Habits

Alright Athina, this is for you... I am suppose to write 6 habits/facts about myself then tag 5 people to do the same. Here you go, enjoy!

1- I have a sock fetish! My socks have to be perfect when I put them into my shoe or I will completely untie the shoe, reposition the sock, and put it back on. I've been known to open a package of socks in the store to try them on to make sure they don't bug me. I hate it when they twist, don't fit right, or have large pieces of lint by my toes. I distinctly remember how I came to this irritation; it was when I was 4 years old my mom would tuck my large church socks under my toes then force my foot into my church shoes. Thinking about it now makes me cringe. I'm sure Mya will obtain this fetish since I'm constantly fixing her socks.

2- Dirty ears bother me :) I hate it when I can see earwax in people's ears. I clean mine out with a bobby-pin at least once a week, and am constantly making sure they are clean with my fingers. I always check Mya's and Scott's. I sometimes have to be careful about this obsession because people have caught me staring into their ears to check for ear wax!

3- I have yet to get my wisdom teeth out... I have two completely in and the 3rd just poked through. I am wishing I had got them out while still in high school so my parents could pay for them! haha Now when I finally do get them out, I won't be much of a mom so I'll need help from Scott and other family members. School would have been much better to miss!!!

4- I'm a stair counter.... Every where I go, any flight of stairs, I find myself counting them in my head. I count the stairs in our home I don't know how many times a day. I know there's 14, but I guess I count them to make sure I don't miss one... I know there were 7 stairs up and 6 stairs down in my parent's old home, and there's 5 then a landing then 12 more in my office. I know I'm weird......

5- I'm paranoid over the brakes in my car going out. Ever since driving the old '76 Duster in high school when the brakes went out, I always think while driving "What would I do if the brakes went out right now...." in every situation. Any abnormal screech I freak out. I guess you could say that stupid car scarred me for life!

6- I have a variety of "stupid human tricks" that one day (if I gain the courage) I'd like to go on David Letterman to perform... They include but are not limited to: fitting fist in mouth, folding tongue in half, elephant impression, and weedwacker imitation.

Alright there you go. I've spilled my guts and just left myself wide open to a lot of blackmail... The 5 people I'm tagging are Marci, Diane, Mom (if you read this), Shellie, and Bethany!
